Kim Bong village showcases craft items and the painstaking process with which they are produced, using specialist tools and techniques passed down since the 15th century when Hoi An flourished as a major sea port. The craftsmen here made a vital contribution to the recent restoration of the Hoi An"s and Hue"s historic buildings. Moreover, we will have the possibility to visit the shipbuilding area where wooden fishing vessels are built using traditional techniques.
To Kim Bong Village : Cycle 40 km
Meet at your hotel lobby and take a boat cruise on the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong Village. Our guide will explain the story of Kim Bong Village. Throughout the walk, we will have the possibility to admire the ship building area where wooden fishing vessels are built using traditional techniques. We will also make a stop in the carpentry workshop where carpenters create hand crafted furniture and sculptures as well as a range of souvenirs. We will then hop on our bicycles for a two hours ride within inner and outer Kim Bong where we will explore today’s sprawling and peaceful rural village life and contemplate several temples, old houses and the famous Kim Buu pagoda, mats weaving & coracle boats, old bamboo bridge. During the trail, we will enjoy refreshments at villagers’ homes and enjoy the snack with local foods there. After lunch at the local home’s villager, we return to the hotel and end of the trip.
