Battle of Hamburger Hill was a battle of the Vietnam War that was fought by the United States and South Vietnam against North Vietnamese forces from May 10–20.
The battle of Hamburger Hill was primarily an infantry engagement, with the U.S. Airborne troops moving up the steeply-sloped hill against well entrenched troops. Attacks were repeatedly repelled by the North Vietnamese People “s Army of Vietnam (PAVN) defenses. Bad weather also hindered operations. Nevertheless, the airborne troops took the hill through direct assault, causing extensive casualties to the NVA forces. This battle tour for two days is including the visit Hamburger Hill and also Demilitarized zone.
Day 1: Hue - Hamburger Hill – A Luoi ( L,D )
Meet at your hotel in Hue City and head out for A Luoi Town for the Ashau valley, one of the strategic focal points of the war in Vietnam. Located in western Hue city, the narrow 40 kilometer long valley was an arm of the Ho Chi Minh Trail funneling troops and supplies toward Hue and Danang. At the north end of the valley was the major North Vietnamese Army (NVA) staging area known as Base Area 611. Because of its importance to the North Vietnamese plan for victory, the Ashau valley became a major battle ground from the earliest days of the U.S involvement in South Vietnam.
Upon arrival, we start to trek up to the top of Hamburger Hill, one of the bloodiest battles between the U.S Army"s 101st Airborne Division and the NVA troops in the Vietnam War. We have wander on the hilltop viewing the traces left of the 10 day battle and explore its surroundings.
After lunch at A Luoi Town, we walk around the village to learn about Ta Oi way of life – weaving ( cloth/bamboo/rattan ) demonstration, agricultural activities, cooking, visit local school and the local market.
