Northern Vietnam has long been influenced by its proximity to China. As the only part of the country that experiences four seasons, many dishes are only available in season. Overall, the food tends to be milder and lighter than that found in the rest of Vietnam. Some specialty in the North Vietnam: Cha Ca La Vong ( La Vong grilled minced fish ), Pho ( rice noodle soup ), Cha gio ( Spring roll ), Banh Cuon ( rolled rice pancake )…Our northern Vietnam culinary tour also brings you to visit the Vietnam capital city, the charming countryside of Ninh Binh and amazing Ha Long Bay.
Day 1: Arrive in Ha Noi ( L )
Meet at Noi Bai Airport and transfer you to the hotel in Ha Noi, Vietnam’s capital city. Ha Noi boasts tree lined streets, French Colonial architecture and centuries-old temples. After lunch, we have a sightseeing tour of the city. We will visit cultural and historical highlights, comprising the Temple of Literature, the Ethnology Museum, and exploration of the old quarter by Cyclo for one hour. In the evening, we will attend a performance of the famous Water Puppets. Overnight at the hotel in Ha Noi City.
Day 2: Excursion to Ninh Binh ( B,L )
Today, we drive to Ninh Binh for a visit the Dinh and Le Dynasty Temples in Hoa Lu, an ancient capital of Vietnam ( 968 - 1009 ). Next, we take a sampan cruising to Tam Coc, which is known as Vietnam's "inland Ha Long Bay". We will visit Bich Dong Pagoda, an extraordinary temple set into a cave and dating from the 17th century. Return to Ha Noi for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Cooking practice - Excursion to Ha Long ( B,L )
In the early morning, we set off to a local market where seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices are sold. The guide will explain and purchase ingredients required for the cooking class while at the market. The Chef will introduce the different cooking styles typical of Northern Vietnam and the dishes that will be taught during the class. After lunch, we will leave Ha Noi for Ha Long Bay, a World Heritage Site which was recognized by UNESCO in 1994. We stay overnight on the Junk in Ha Long Bay.
Day 4: Ha Long - Ha Noi ( B,L )
In the morning, we cruise in Ha Long Bay to visit some magical grottoes and relax amongst some of Vietnam’s most beautiful karst scenery. A fresh seafood lunch is served on board whilst exploring the bay. We will then return to Ha Noi with a stopover at a ceramic and hand embroidery workshop. Overnight at the hotel in Ha Noi City.
Day 5: Ha Noi - Departure ( B )
After breakfast, we transfer you to Noi Bai Airport for next departure.
