This 4 days sapa tour offers a rare opportunity to experience a country taking its first steps in the modern world. Immerse yourself in the traditional ways of life of the colorful hill tribes. Meet the ethnic minorities in this charming town. En route you will sleep in local villages in traditional one-roomed houses built on stilts.
Night 1: Ha Noi - Lao Cai
Pick up at the hotel and transfer to Ha Noi train station for the night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on the train.
Day 1: Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van ( B )
Pick up at Lao Cai train station and transfer to Sapa for check into the hotel. After breakfast, we start trekking. The first, we walk on a small path down the valley to the Muong Hoa River and to the Black H’Mong village Lao Chai San, Lao Chai. Black H’Mong is one of the biggest minority groups in the Sapa area. They are proud of their cultures and traditions and their way of living. They have their own languages and wear traditional indigio blue clothing. We then continue onto Ta Van village ( 1.200 m ) to visit Dzay Minority. Dzay is a fairly small minority group of about 38.000 people who live mainly in the mountains in the Northwest of Vietnam. The development has meant that some of their old customs have been lost but many women still wear traditional shirts with a purple, blue or green colour. The Dzay houses are being built of wood and bamboo with a clay floor. Overnight at Home Stay with a local family in Ta Van. Trekking distance: 15 km.
Day 2: Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai - Ban Ho ( B )
After breakfast, we visit Red Dao people at Giang Ta Chai where has a beautiful waterfall. The Red Dao women have very colourful red embroidery and coins on their clothing. On their head they wear a red scarf. Some of the women have shaved off their eyebrows because of a nice Red Zao legend. We continue along small paths in the rice fields, cross the Muong Hoa River and arrive to the Tay village Ban Ho ( 900 m ). Tay is the most populous of the hill tribes. Because of the development and adaptation to the Vietnamese society some of them have started wearing Vietnamese clothing. But most women still wear the traditional checkered headscarf. We stay overnight at Home Stay in a wooden Tay stilt house. Trekking distance: 25 km.
Day 3: Ban Ho - Nam Toong - Nam Ken - Muong Bo ( B )
After breakfast, we will trek up to to the Red Dzao Village at Nam Ken and Xa Pho, the village of Xa Pho tribe the smallest group in Sapa who have very little contact with modern Vietnam. Overnight at Home Stay in Muong Bo Village of Tay people. Trekking distance: 20 km
Day 4: Muong Bo - Ban Den - Sapa ( B,L,D )
After breakfast, we trek up to explore Ban Den place ( 10 km ). We return to Sapa for lunch. In the afternoon, we are free to visit and experience the colourful Sapa market where has many women from the different ethnic minority groups coming here to sell their products. After dinner, catch the night train back to Ha Noi. Overnight on the train. For the next day, we will arrive in Ha Noi City around 6:00 AM at the hotel and end of the trip.
